• Auburn's Cam Newton had 14 carries for 73 yards with two touchdowns and completed 17-28 passes for 335 yards and four touchdowns as the Tigers claimed the Southeastern Conference Championship and a BCS bid with a 56-17 win over South Carolina on Dec. 4 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

• Nevada's Colin Kaepernick had 20 carries for 155 yards and three touchdowns and completed 13-17 passes for 159 yards in a 35-17 win at Louisiana Tech on Dec. 4.
