Five Named to the Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll
Louisville, Ky. (Tuesday, September 6, 2011) – Five players, including a speedy, cornerback that saw action on both sides of the ball, have been named to the Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll following the opening weekend of the college football season. The weekly recognition honors versatile, single-game performances around the nation by FBS student-athletes.
Georgia’s Brandon Boykin led the way in week one by seeing action on both offense and defense, a trademark of 2010 Paul Hornung Award winner Owen Marecic from Stanford. Boykin had an 80-yard touchdown run in addition to his six tackles on defense and five kick returns.
The Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse, is awarded annually to the most versatile player in major college football.
Week One Selections to the Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll
• Georgia's Brandon Boykin had an 80-yard touchdown run and five kick returns for 110 yards in a 35-21 loss to Boise State on Sept. 3. Boykin recorded six total tackles including one for a loss and a pass breakup on defense.
• Florida International’s T.Y. Hilton had two rushes for 49 yards, 132 yards receiving on seven catches with a touchdown, two punt returns for 10 yards and two kick returns for 92 yards for a total of 283 all-purpose yards in a 41-16 win over North Texas on Sept. 1.
• Alabama’s Marquis Maze had eight receptions for 118 yards and one touchdown in a 48-7 win over Kent State on Sept. 3. Maze also returned one kickoff for 39 yards and eight punt returns for 96 yards. He finished with 253 all-purpose yards in the win.
• Florida’s Chris Rainey scored three different ways in a 41-3 win over Florida Atlantic on Sept. 3. Rainey had 11 carries for 79 yards with a touchdown, six receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown. He also returned a blocked punt 22 yards for a score.
• Baylor’s Kendall Wright completed both of his pass attempts for 55 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown pass, and caught 12 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns in a 50-48 win over TCU on Sept. 2.

Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse
Created by the Louisville Sports Commission in 2010, the Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football. The Award is designed to promote college football and help preserve the legacy of one of Kentucky's best-known and accomplished athletes who has always called Louisville home. Hornung, the 1956 Heisman Trophy winner at Notre Dame and NFL MVP for the Green Bay Packers, set a single season NFL scoring record that stood 46 years. Paul is a member of the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame, and Vince Lombardi once called Hornung, “The most versatile man ever to play the game.” A national selection committee comprised of 16 sports journalists and former NFL stars votes for the Hornung Award, and this year fan voting on Facebook powered by Texas Roadhouse will comprise the 17th vote. All votes are tabulated independently by regional accounting firm Dean Dorton Allen Ford. The winner is honored at a banquet presented by Jewish Hospital Sports Medicine in late January each year in downtown Louisville.
