Barner Added to Watch List; Rankings; Week One Matchups

LOUISVILLE, KY (Aug 30, 2010) – Kenjon Barner, a sophomore running back and return specialist at Oregon, has been added to the Watch List for the inaugural Paul Hornung Award, it was announced Monday by the Louisville Sports Commission.
Barner set a school record for the Ducks with 1,020 kickoff return yards in 2009 and compiled 420 all-purpose yards in the final two games of the 2009 season. He finished 2009 with 1,553 all-purpose yards, ninth on the school’s single season list. Barner becomes the fifth player from the Pac-10 to earn Paul Honrung Award Watch List honors and the 49th player overall.
Rankings Have Hornung Flare: The individuals selected to the 2010 Watch List for the Paul Hornung Award provide a showcase of the nation’s most versatile players and come from many of the nation’s top teams. Eight of the individuals selected to the Watch List are from teams that are ranked in the top 10 of the preseason poll released by the Associated Press recently. Overall, 20 players on the Watch List are represented in the top 25 while 28 of the 49 players on the list are on teams that received votes in the preseason rankings from the AP.
Week One Features Six Games Featuring Head-to-Head Hornung Award Watch List Matchups: The first week of the 2010 college football season features six games that will see student-athletes on the 2010 Paul Hornung Award Watch List face off in head-to-head action over a three-day period. Included in the list is one game with three candidates.

- Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010: Derrick Locke and Randall Cobb (Kentucky) vs. Douglas Beaumont (Louisville)
- Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010: Jeremy Kerley (TCU) vs. James Rodgers (Oregon State)
- Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010: Damaris Johnson (Tulsa) vs. Dwayne Harris (East Carolina)
- Monday, Sept. 6, 2010: Torrey Smith (Maryland) vs. Ricky Dobbs (Navy)
- Monday, Sept. 6, 2010: Doug Martin (Boise State) vs. Dyrell Roberts (Virginia Tech)
