Page, Williams, Wilson Earn Hornung Award Weekly Honor

Louisville, Ky. (Monday, October 10, 2011) – Eric Page (Toledo), Kerwynn Williams (Utah State) and David Wilson (Virginia Tech) have been named to the Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll. The weekly recognition honors versatile, single-game performances around the nation by FBS student-athletes. 

The Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse, is awarded annually to the most versatile player in major college football. Fans can now vote online at www.votepaulhornung.com for the finalist for the 2011 award.

All three weekly honorees are members of the Paul Hornung Award Watch List. Page is being honored for the fourth time this season while Williams and Wilson each earned their first Hornung weekly recognition of the year. 

Week Six Selections to the Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll

• Toledo’s Eric Page had 11 receptions for 109 yards with a touchdown, six punt returns for 108 yard with an 85-yard touchdown return and one kick return for 16 yards in a 54-16 win over Eastern Michigan on Oct. 8.

• Utah State's Kerwynn Williams had six carries for 55 yards, two receptions for 30 yards, one punt return for 22 yards, and four kick returns for 125 yards in a 63-19 win over Wyoming on Oct. 8.

• Virginia Tech’s David Wilson had 23 carries for 128 yards, four catches for 25 yards and a touchdown. Wilson also had five kick returns for 88 yards for a total of 241 all-purpose yards in the 38-35 win over Miami on Oct. 8.

Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse

Created by the Louisville Sports Commission in 2010, the Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football. The Award is designed to promote college football and help preserve the legacy of one of Kentucky's best-known and accomplished athletes who has always called Louisville home. Hornung, the 1956 Heisman Trophy winner at Notre Dame and NFL MVP for the Green Bay Packers, set a single season NFL scoring record that stood 46 years. Paul is a member of the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame, and Vince Lombardi once called Hornung, “The most versatile man ever to play the game.” A national selection committee comprised of 16 sports journalists and former NFL stars votes for the Hornung Award, and this year fan voting on Facebook powered by Texas Roadhouse will comprise the 17th vote. All votes are tabulated independently by regional accounting firm Dean Dorton Allen Ford. The winner is honored at a banquet presented by Jewish Hospital Sports Medicine in late January each year in downtown Louisville.
